#05 – PUGLIA
Fondazione Pino Pascali (Polignano a Mare (Ba)
Opening: 31st January 7 pm.
The “tour” of the show Coexistence. For a new Adriatic Koiné is going to end in Puglia, after the previous appointments in Tirana (Albania), Cetinje (Montenegro), Rijeka (Croatia) and Venice (Italy). The Foundation Pino Pascali in Polignano a Mare will host the grand final, curated by Antonio Frugis of the itinerant, contemporary art exhibition “ART IN PORT – Coexistence for a new Adriatic Koiné”. It will take place on January 31st 2015 (until March, 1st 2015): the Foundation’s spaces will be invaded by the artworks by artists coming from the five countries partner of the project: Albania, Montenegro, Croatia, Italy (Veneto and Puglia). They are: Endri Dani, Sulejman Fani, Ilir Kaso, Alketa Ramaj, Anila Rubiku, Albania; Irena Lagator Pejović, Nataljia Vujošević,Jovana Vujanović, Igor Rakčević, Jelena Tomašević, Montenegro; Gildo Bavčević, Nika Rukavina, Fokus Grupa, Ana Hušman, Davor Sanvincenti, Croatia; Giulia Maria Belli, Chiara Bugatti, Enej Gala, Annamaria Maccapani, Francesca Piovesan, Veneto; Dario Agrimi, Sarah Ciracì, Gianmaria Giannetti, Francesca Loprieno, Giuseppe Teofilo, Puglia.
Working together to give voice to art, to multiply its visions, to create a narration with many voices, connected together into a large Adriatic and transmedia network: this is the main goal of the project. The exhibition is part of the project “arTVision. A live art channel” funded by the European IPA Adriatic CBC Programme 2007/2013, with the purpose to activate and connect the creative energy of young artists invited to participate as protagonists.
It is an experimental project, led by Puglia Region – Area Policies for the Promotion of Territory, Knowledge and Talent, which involves: Pino Pascali Foundation Museum of Contemporary Art; Veneto Region – Direction of cultural and performance activities; Academy of Fine Arts of Venice; Ministry of Culture of Montenegro; Faculty of Dramatic Arts of Cetinje – Montenegro; Ministry of Culture of Albania; University of Arts of Tirana – Albania; Primorje-Gorski Kotar County – Croatia; Kanal RI – Croatia.
The core idea is to establish a strict dialogue among cross-border Nations through a set of cultural actions, aimed at finding out commonalities and discontinuities among peoples sharing the Mare Nostrum of the Adriatic Mediterranean. One exhibition and five versions of it, in different locations and territories, to state the concept of a new linguistic Koinè, capable of translating territorial identities into the dynamics of relationship, open-mindedness and comparison. The artists from different geographical areas, coordinated by a team of curators, headed by the Pino Pascali Museum Foundation, in collaboration with the coordinators of the partner countries, have dealt with such shared topics as stories and narrations, myths and legends, spirituality and religions, migration and nomadism, with the aim to strengthen the idea of a common Europeanness too often forgotten.
The exhibition is curated by Antonio Frugis, Pino Pascali Foundation.
